Bobcats Handle Business at Home Against Alderson Broaddus

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State men's lacrosse team stays undefeated after beating the Alderson Broaddus Battlers by a final score of 21-4 Sunday afternoon. Senior Jason Clinton led the Bobcats with four goals and two assists, while graduate Mike Sipes recorded four goals and one assist.
 
The win moves FSU to 5-0 on the season, while the Battlers fall to 0-4.
 
After the visitors got on the board first scoring one minute into the game, Clinton scored back-to-back goals to give Frostburg the 2-1 lead. Graduate Paul Ruppert then scored his first goal of the game before Clinton captured his hat-trick at the 8:48 mark to increase the Bobcat lead to 4-1.
 
Alderson Broaddus scored at the 6:33 mark in the first, before sophomore Ty Oehlerking netted his first goal of the game to take a 5-2 lead. Ruppert then scored back-to-back goals off assists from sophomore Tanner Donaldson and Clinton, increasing the lead to 7-2. Clinton scored with two minutes remaining in the first quarter off an assist from sophomore Bubba Love before junior Matthew Ward scored a goal right at the buzzer to take a 9-2 lead going into the second quarter.
 
Graduate Mike Sipes opened the second quarter scoring one minute in to make the score 10-2. Sophomore Owen McCallum got on the scoresheet, netting a goal at the 9:56 mark. Junior Gavin Schattall recorded an unassisted goal to give Frostburg a 12-2 lead. Sipes scored with 1:26 left in the second quarter, giving the Bobcats a 13-2 lead going into halftime.
 
Junior Joey Boros started the second half netting a goal to increase the lead to 14-2. First-year Austin Sipes got in on the scoring with a goal at the 9:03 mark in the third. Mike Sipes scored a man-up goal at 6:48 in the third off an assist from Clinton before scoring another unassisted goal to give Frostburg a 17-2 lead. First-year Erek Augustin scored with two minutes left in the third quarter off an assist from Mike Sipes to take an 18-2 lead into the final quarter of play.
 
Senior Dylan Griffiths opened the fourth quarter scoring off an assist from junior Nicholas Nordhausen, increasing the lead to 19-2. The Battlers recorded the next two goals to put the visitors down 19-4. Nordhausen got in the scoring column off an assist from sophomore Austin Linn before Linn got a goal of his own on a man-up play, earning the 21-4 win for Frostburg.
 
Senior Colson Gregory led the defense with four caused turnovers, while junior Jacob Sprecher recorded three caused turnovers and three ground balls. Senior Sam Natvig went 10-11 at the faceoff dot, while junior Cade Price went 10-13 on the day.
