PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Frostburg State men's lacrosse team came back with four fourth quarter goals to beat the Chestnut Hill Griffins 10-8 Saturday evening. Graduate Paul Ruppert led the Bobcats with two goals and one assist while graduate Jack Marks recorded 17 saves in the win.

The Bobcat victory moves FSU to 3-0 on the season while Chestnut Hill falls to 2-2.

The hosts opened the game scoring the first goal at the 10:33 mark. The Griffins scored a minute later to take a 2-0 lead. Chestnut Hill scored their third unanswered goal of the game on an extra man opportunity with 5:39 left in the quarter. The Bobcats went a man up after a Chestnut Hill penalty before sophomore Bubba Love got FSU on the board to make it 3-1 with 4:30 left in the quarter.

After two goals from the Griffins to open the second quarter, junior Joey Boros netted a goal with an assist from Love to make it 5-2 with three minutes left in the half. First-year Austin Sipes threw in an around-the-world goal in front of the crease off an assist from junior Jake Bowman to make it 5-3 going into halftime.

The Bobcats started the second half on the defensive end after a penalty that was carried over from the first half. The defense stood tall stopping the Griffins offense and getting the ball eventually leading to a goal from senior Jason Clinton to put the Bobcats down 5-4. The hosts put in another goal to go back up by two before junior Connor Tollus scored for FSU to make it 6-5. A stop from graduate goalkeeper Jack Marks led to a Bobcat goal 40 seconds later with sophomore Ty Oehlerking netting his first of the game to tie it at 6-6 with 5:37 left in the third.

Chestnut Hill scored two minutes into the fourth quarter to take a 7-6 lead before sophomore Tanner Donaldson tied the game back up at 7-7. A goal from graduate Paul Ruppert off an assist by Bowman gave FSU an 8-7 lead with 7:45 left in the game. The goal for Ruppert was his 100th of his career, ranking him third in program history.

A Griffins goal tied the game at 8-8 with five minutes remaining. Junior Sam Natvig came up with a crucial faceoff win before senior Nick Gallagher scooped up the ground ball, allowing Ruppert to net his second of the night giving FSU a 9-8 lead with 4:35 left to play. Marks, having a stellar night between the pipes, came up with a save to lead to a goal from Donaldson assisted by Ruppert to earn the Bobcats the win 10-8.

Senior Dante York led the defense with three ground balls and one caused turnover while graduate Garrett Colvin earned two ground balls with one caused turnover for FSU.
