The Bobcast 2021: Episode 8 (3/1/21)

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Office of Athletic Communications continues its weekly coaches' show featuring conversations with all its in-season coaches. The podcast-style show gives fans an inside look at all the happenings of their favorite Bobcat teams.

Men's and women's basketball wrapped up their seasons with four games apiece in the final week of MEC action. The men narrowly missed out on the MEC tournament, while the women completed their seventh game in 11 days at Fairmont State on Saturday. Sean Brown, Sr. and Carrie Saunders gave a season recap of their respective teams and a small look ahead to next season.

Volleyball still searches for their first win after falling in straight sets back-to-back days against Wheeling, as well as at West Liberty on Friday. They will travel to Notre Dame College on Tuesday night for a double-header, before returning to Bobcat Arena for their final regular season match against Fairmont State.

Men's and women's swimming returned to the pool in South Euclid, Ohio against the Notre Dame Falcons. Both teams ended with losses despite some strong individual times and personal bests. The Bobcats return to the pool Saturday for their last home meet of the season, as they take on West Virginia Wesleyan.

Women's soccer got their season started with a 2-1 win against Davis and Elkins, with Audra Curtin netting a goal and an assist and Alexis Pate tacking on a goal. The women's team have their first game at Bobcat Stadium this season on Friday, as they play their fellow Bobcats from West Virginia Wesleyan.

Men's soccer also got into the win column after a 2-0 shutout victory over Wheeling at Bobcat Stadium. Tamino Brown and Vaughn Phillips got on the score sheet, while Joel Assal kept a clean sheet in goal. The Bobcas are on the road as they travel to Concord on Friday afternoon.

Men's lacrosse kicked off their season debut with an emphatic 18-3 victory over Walsh, a year after beating the Cavaliers 12-8. Paul Ruppert led the Bobcats with five goals, as they will head up to Ohio on Saturday to take on the Lake Erie Storm.
