Bobcats Close Out Season at Fairmont

FAIRMONT, W.Va. – The Frostburg State women's basketball team fell short during the last contest of the season against the Fairmont State Falcons with a final score of 97-53. The Bobcats were led by sophomore Ciara Thomas with 18 points, eight rebounds, and two assists on the night. This brings FSU to 2-14 and moves Fairmont to 7-9.
 
The Bobcats struggled to hold the Falcons off early in the game, giving up ten points before sophomore Arianna Briggs-Hall landed the first good basket for FSU at the 7:04 mark. A good layup from Thomas brought the Bobcats within 12 from Fairmont with a score of 18-6. First year Rhiana Hall landed the last points for FSU during the first half before Fairmont went on an eight-point scoring run to end the quarter with 29-10
 
Junior Drew Dunathan opened the scoring for Frostburg landing a good layup less than a minute into the second quarter. Three good layups from Thomas brought the Bobcats up six more points for a score of 36-21. Junior Morgan Dombroski grabbed the last points with six seconds left with a good free throw from the line bringing the score to 48-24 to go into the second half.
 
FSU came out strong to start the second half with Thomas landing a good layup eight seconds in followed by a layup from senior Grace Butera at the 9:09 mark making bringing the score to 48-28. The Falcons went on a nine-point scoring run before Hall landed a good layup at 3:55 making the score 70-35. A layup and a good free throw from Thomas ended the scoring for the Bobcats bringing the score to 78-38 to go into the final quarter of play.
 
Frostburg came out ready to battle with Briggs-Hall landing two good layups less than a minute into the final quarter. A good free throw from the line and a layup from Thomas brought the Bobcats score up to 53 points with 3:51 left to play. Fairmont went on an eight-point scoring run to end the game with a final score of 97-53.
 
Hall contributed nine points, six rebounds, and one assist, while Briggs-Hall contributed eight points, nine rebounds, and one steal.
