FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State women's basketball team lost a hard-fought battle at home against the Fairmont State Falcons with a final score of 80-74. The Bobcats were led by first-year Rhiana Hall and sophomore Arianna Briggs-Hall with 20 and 23 points, 8 and 11 rebounds, and 3 and 1 steals respectively. Frostburg falls to 2-9, while Fairmont State moves to 5-8.

The Bobcats started the game off strong by taking the lead when Briggs-Hall landed a good layup at the 7:16 mark making the score 8-6. It was a scoring battle between FSU and Fairmont, but the Bobcats were able to keep the lead with 22-20 going into the second quarter.

FSU struggled to keep their lead to begin the second quarter, giving up four points to the Falcons. After a good layup and free throw by Hall, Frostburg was able to pull ahead once again with 27-26. Hall landed a good free throw to end the second quarter with a 10-point lead against Fairmont making the score 41-31.

Sophomore Ciara Thomas started the scoring for the Bobcats at the 7:00 mark in the third quarter. Thomas landed a good layup followed by a free throw at the line giving FSU a 12-point lead at 49-37. First-year Brenae Ford scored back-to-back free throws for the Bobcats, but the Falcons were still able to close the gap giving FSU only a five-point lead to go into the final quarter of play.

Briggs-Hall opened the scoring for the Bobcats in the fourth quarter with a good layup. Junior Morgan Dombroski landed a good jumper for the Frostburg making the score 64-61, but it wasn't enough to hold off the Falcons after Fairmont took the lead at the 4:40 mark. It was a scoring battle the rest of the fourth with first-year Kyrsten Joseph breaking 70 points for FSU with 50 seconds left in the game. Dombrokski landed the final points in the game making the end score 80-74 Fairmont State.
