ATHENS, W. Va.- Graduate Jihar Williams scored a career-high 27 points as men's basketball took down Concord 90-74 on the road.
The Bobcats came out and dominated the game from the start. Senior Sean Patterson started the game with two easy layups to put Frostburg up early. Freshman Justin Roseme added another easy bucket before Williams started his scoring with a layup and back-to-back three-pointers to put FSU up 13-7. Williams and junior Agyei Edwards combined for the next 14 points, including four three-pointers, to stretch the lead to 27-13. Junior Torrin Stephens would add five points and two rebounds to finish a strong half for Frostburg as they headed into the half up 43-28.
The Bobcats would come out of the locker room hot as Willams, Roseme, and senior Bo Schene would hit three consecutive threes to put the FSU lead at 52-30. The Mountain Lions would cut into the lead and make it a nine-point game with seven minutes left, but Edwards would hit a three and Williams followed with another three to maintain a steady lead. Edwards hit several big jumpers down the stretch to finish off the victory for Frostburg as they would take the game by the score of 90-74.
Williams led the Bobcats with 27 and Edwards contributed 21 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Freshman Jaylin Arbury had a strong performance off the bench as he tallied eight points to go along with six rebounds, and three assists.
The FSU defense had their best points against performance on the season, holding CU to 39% shooting from the field and just 17% from three.
With the win, Frostburg moves to 4-7 on the year and Concord drops to 4-7. The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, December 15, 2021 on the road against the District of Columbia at 7:00 p.m. For information and updates stay tuned at frostburgsports.com.
