Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Edged by Golden Eagles

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - The Frostburg State Bobcats took on the Clarion Golden Eagles in the day two opener of the Ron Wilson Classic on the campus of Millersville University of Pennsylvania. In a close contest, Clarion outlasted a late FSU push to score an 82-76 victory.

The first half ended with a 38-34 Frostburg State lead, with junior guard Michael Tate Jr. leading the way for the Bobcats by opening the game scoring the first 8 points for FSU in an 8-2 fashion. Junior Torrin Stephens would also have a solid first half, adding four points and six rebounds. After the first half would conclude, Tate Jr. would have 16 of the 38 for FSU.

The second half would see the Clarion offense start to pick up and give FSU plenty of trouble. Despite the Bobcats trying to stick around offensively, Clarion would end up building a lead as high as nine points that FSU just couldn't quite overcome. Within the closing minute of the second half, FSU would trim the Golden Eagle lead to as low as three points, but a small 5-0 run would put the game away for CU.

Tate Jr. would be the leading scorer for FSU, tallying 26 points with nine of them coming from three-point range, Stephens chipping in 10 as well as junior Agyei Edwards who would add 20 points. Tate Jr. would fall one rebound shy of a double-double with nine, and he ultimately would foul out in the contest.

The Bobcats fall to 0-2 with the loss and Clarion would improve to 2-0 on the young season. FSU is back in action on November 17 when the take on another PSAC East team in the Shepherd Rams in the Bobcat Arena home opener. For more information and updates, visit frostburgsports.com.
