FROSTBURG, Md.- The Frostburg State field hockey team dropped a home contest to the Converse Valkyries 3-1.
 
It was senior day for the Frostburg and before the start the Bobcats took time to honor their five seniors Maggie Haupt, Taylor Hackett, Katie Mitchell, Meaghan Szkalak and Rylee Johnson.

Senior Maggie Haupt got the start in goal and showed out in the first quarter recording six saves as the Valkyries had numerous chances to get on the board. Junior Madison Manalansan took the goal in the second quarter and recorded a save to keep the score at 0-0 going into the half. 

The second half was filled with momentum swings, as both teams found the back of the goal in the half. Converse started the scoring as Mira Polzer snuck a shot past Manalansan to give the Valkyries a 1-0 lead. The Bobcats would answer as sophomore Ashlyn Cave sent a bullet into the box that was redirected by sophomore Heidi Van Dyk as Frostburg evened it up at 1-1.

Converse put two more goals on the board in the fourth as Lotte Kanters and Elizabeth Wypych scored for the Valkyries to put the Bobcats away. Converse outshot Frostburg 23-1 and they now move to 6-5 on the year as the Bobcats fall to 1-11. 

The Bobcats play host to Mansfield next Saturday, October 16 at 11 a.m. during homecoming weekend at Bobcat Stadium. For current information on Frostburg athletics visit frostburgsports.com
