BUCKHANNON, W. VA.- The Frostburg State men's soccer team lost 2-0 to West Virginia Wesleyan on the road in a game with MEC playoff implications.
The game started off with both teams trading shots and both goalkeepers having multiple saves. That changed in the second period with a goal from Javier De Ona Garcia. A few minutes later, Nika Monaselidze scored the final goal with a penalty to put FSU away 2-0.
Sophomores Alex Grasso and Alex Retzos each had three shots, with Retzos putting two shots on goal. Senior Malek Shedid had three shots, while freshmen Matthew Garrett and Josecarlos Martinez both had one shot, with Garrett having one shot on goal. Senior goalkeeper Joel Assal had two saves on six shots faced.
With the loss, FSU falls to 4-5-1 and WVWC rises to 6-3 on the season. Frostburg State next will travel to Salem (WV) on Saturday, October 9 at 2 PM. For more information and updates, visit
