FROSTBURG, Md.- Frostburg State Volleyball lost to the MEC South Division leaders West Virginia State 3-0.

In the first set, both sides began even, but with FSU up 7-6, WVSU scored seven of the next eight points to take a 13-8 lead. They pushed the score to 20-13 before the Bobcats fought back, going on their own 7-1 run to get back within a point at 21-20. The Yellow Jackets, however, killed off the set, scoring four straight points to take a 1-0 lead.

WVSU took the early lead in set two, going up 8-4 before another Bobcat rally to get back to within 9-8. The sides traded points as the Yellow Jackets went on a couple scoring runs to go up 19-13. Frostburg got back to within three at 19-13, but WVSU was too strong, finishing the set 25-18

The Yellow Jackets came out determined for the sweep in the third set, racing out to a commanding 15-4 lead, and despite some late FSU scoring, took the set 25-16 to complete the three-set victory.

Junior Jackie Sterenberg and sophomore Sydney Hammond led Frostburg in scoring with eight kills each, while senior Raven Pratt had another solid defensive performance with three blocks. Â

With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 8-16 while WVSU improves to 23-3. FSU is back in action Tuesday, November 2 as they travel to Wheeling for a 7 p.m. match. For information and updates stay tuned at frostburgsports.com.
