Men's Soccer Comeback Falls Short Against #6 Senators

FROSTBURG, Md.- The Frostburg State Men's Soccer team battled against the No. 6-ranked Davis & Elkins Senators, but fell 3-1 Sunday night in Bobcat Stadium.

The game started out fairly even, with both teams able to get a couple of spells of possession, but it would be the Senators that took the lead on a goal fired into the bottom corner by Christhian Bosquez.

D+E would finish out the half holding FSU with just one shot, as senior goalkeeper Joel Assal made a few saves to keep the Bobcats in the game, he would finish with an impressive seven saves. The Senators continued to maintain possession and made it pay 20 minutes into the second half, with a nice through ball from Bosquez finding Daniel Cerezo, who rounded Assal and tapped in for a 2-0 lead.

Frostburg would fight their way back into the game with just under five minutes remaining, as a free kick taken by sophomore Alex Retzos found the head of freshman Zach Harpel, as he was able to flick the ball past Jeremy Coste in goal to cut the deficit to 2-1.

The Senators would put the game out of reach on a wonder goal from Magnus Ammundsen, who fired from 30 yards out into the upper 90, making the final score 3-1.

With the loss, FSU falls to 4-4-1 on the year, while D+E stays undefeated at 8-0.
