FROSTBURG - Md. The Frostburg State Field Hockey team dropped a close contest at home to the No. 9-ranked Bloomsburg Huskies 2-1 on Sunday afternoon.
The Bobcats got the game started quickly in this one, as sophomore Heidi van Dyk scored her first goal of the season, putting the Bobcats up 1-0 only 1:36 into the contest. The Bobcats would add another shot in the first quarter, and that would be the end of most offensive chances in the half. The teams would go into a battle for possession for the rest of the first half, as the contest would hold 1-0 at halftime.
Into the second half, the Huskies would begin their comeback, tying the contest in the third quarter at 1-1. The teams would continue a tight battle throughout the quarter, as it finished tied at 1-1. Bloomsburg would go into the fourth and find the back of the net on what was thought to be a goal, but it was called back by the officials.Â
Bloomsburg would break through in the final few minutes of the contest, scoring to make it 2-1, which would end up being the final score.
The Bobcats fall to 1-9 with the loss, while Bloomsburg improves to 7-3 with the victory. The Bobcats will be back in action on Tuesday, October 5 when they face Lindenwood (Mo.) at 12 pm at Bobcat Stadium to continue their 10-game home stand.
