WEST LIBERTY, W. Va.- The Frostburg State men's soccer team lost a close game on the road to West Liberty 1-0.
The game started out with shots coming from both sides of the pitch, but the first half would end 0-0 as both goalkeepers made a save each.
In the second half, the shots started to rack up for FSU, with three different Bobcats having shots on goal as sophomore Alex Grasso had his effort saved. WLU would take the lead, however, on a called back pass that senior Joel Assal picked up, resulting in an indirect free kick six yards out. Bernardo Vilchis smashed the ball in after a touch from Liam Toman to give the Hilltoppers the 1-0 lead.
Frostburg fought hard to try and equalize, but keeper Noah Underwood would not be beaten on the night, making five saves over the last 20 minutes to preserve his clean sheet. In the Bobcat goal, Assal ended the night making one save on 9 total shots.
FSU falls to a record of 6-6-1, while WLU rises to 5-9 on the season. Frostburg next travels to Notre Dame (Ohio) on Sunday, October 24 for a match at 12 PM. For more information and updates, visit
