Bobcats Come From Behind To Win At Home Over Notre Dame

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State men's basketball team came back late in the second half to beat Notre Dame College 71-70 Saturday evening. Junior Agyei Edwards led the Bobcats with 19 points, five rebounds, and four assists in the win.
 
FSU now advances to 2-3 on the season while the Falcons drop to 1-4.
 
The Bobcats found themselves in a hole down 30-16 with seven minutes left in the first half. FSU then went on a 10-2 scoring run with a three-pointer from junior Jamil Jones, a layup from Edwards, and another three-point play from Jones to put Frostburg down only 30-24. The Bobcats ended the first half with a layup from senior Jihar Williams to make it an eight-point game going into the break 38-30.
 
Play continued to go back and forth between Frostburg and Notre Dame until halfway through the second half when FSU went on an 8-1 run with a three-pointer from Edwards and a layup from senior Sean Patterson to put the Bobcats down 62-60 with four minutes left in the game. Patterson throw down a dunk with 2:09 left to keep it a two-point game 64-62.
 
Patterson was then sent to the free throw line and successfully made both shots to put the Bobcats down one point 65-64. The Falcons jumped out to a four-point lead until Williams hit a three-pointer with 12 seconds left to bring FSU within one 70-69.
 
Senior Desmond Rene came up with a massive steal after the Falcons inbounded the ball at the baseline. Before being fouled on a layup attempt. Rene successfully converted on both free throws with five seconds left in the game. A late foul put the Falcons on the line with a chance to take the lead or tie but were unable to convert the either free throw. Frostburg held on to win 71-70.
 
Patterson ended the night with 16 points and five rebounds for the Bobcats. Williams earned 13 points with five rebounds while Jones had eight points, three rebounds, and two assists on the night.
