FROSTBURG, Md. – Graduate Victoria Diggs scored 22 to lead Frostburg in scoring in a 93-69 loss Saturday to Glenville State at Bobcat Arena.
The Bobcats hung tough for much of the first quarter and led 4-0 in the opening few moments and later led 6-2 thanks to a layup from first-year Kaitlin Rogers.
The Pioneers answered with a 10-0 run and closed the first with a three-pointer from Ty Armstrong for a 19-13 cushion. The second quarter was the difference in the ballgame as the Pioneers scored 34 points in 10 minutes of play and led 53-20 at halftime.
Glenville extended its lead to 78-40 after three quarters and the host Bobcats narrowed the gap in the fourth.
Diggs brought Frostburg's deficit to 29 with a jumper in the paint at 7:59 and senior Amanda Emory hit two foul shots at 7:41 to pull FSU to within 27 at 78-51. Emory connected on a three-pointer at 4:02 that pulled the Bobcats to within 19, 81-62, and the hosts came as close as 18, 82-64 on two sophomore Morgan Dombroski foul shots at 3:36.
Diggs finished with 22 including three three-pointers. Emory and Dombroski each added 13 points, while Emory posted a double-double with 11 rebounds.
Armstrong led the Pioneers with 25 points, while Re'Shawna Stone added 18.
Frostburg hosts Urbana this Wednesday at 5:30 pm.
