FROSTBURG, Md. – Senior Terry Kenner hit a corner three-pointer from directly in front of the Frostburg bench to give the Bobcats a dramatic 68-65 win over Concord, Thursday night.
The evening was filled with excitement as the Bobcats were playing at home for the first time this season as Bobcat Arena had being undergoing renovations since August.
And so it just seems fitting that the Bobcats added further excitement to the night with a game-winner with just under two seconds left on the clock.
Kenner finished with 10 points, but his three-pointer was the difference and ended a three-game losing skid for Frostburg (8-13, 5-10 MEC) . Concord falls to 7-14 overall and 4-11 in the league while its three-game winning streak came to an end.
The game featured 14 lead changes and seven ties and neither school was able to lead by more than 10 points. Concord's largest lead was eight points and came with 6:29 showing in the second half after FSU led a game-high nine earlier in the second stanza.
Senior Daniel Alexander hit a layup with 4:39 to play and a three-pointer on the next possession to pull the hosts to within one, 62-61. Senior Demetrich Williams tied the ball game with a jumper in the paint with 1:48 left before Kenner's game-winner from the corner.
Three starters finished in double-figures for the Bobcats as Alexander paced the team with 15 points and 11 rebounds, his fourth double-double of the season. Sophomore Torrin Stephens added 12 points and junior Desmond Rene scored 11. The Bobcats finished the game with eight three-pointers.
Concord was led in scoring by Trey Brisco's 16 points. Martin Kelly, Jr. came off the bench to finish with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Lead changed hands eight times in the opening 20 minutes of play. The Bobcats emerged with a 32-26 halftime cushion following a 8-0 run over the closing minutes.
Kenner hit a three-pointer at 3:51 and a jumper at 2:29 as FSU led 29-26. Stephens closed the first stanza with a three-pointer for a 32-26 cushion.
The Mountain Lions led by as many five in the first half just past the midway point thanks to four-consecutive baskets for a 19-14 edge.
The Bobcats host Glenville State this Saturday at 4:00 pm.
