Bobcats Season Ends at Fairmont

FAIRMONT. W.Va. – FSU dropped a road conference matchup with Fairmont State Saturday afternoon, 103-81. The loss moves Frostburg to 10-18 overall 7-15 in the Mountain East Conference. While Fairmont State improves to 22-6 overall and 16-6 in the MEC.

The Bobcats were lead in scoring by senior Demetrich Williams who had 19 points and 11 rebounds while swiping two passes.

Frostburg hit the first basket of the game with senior JR Kerr drilling a three-pointer off of a pass from senior Daniel Alexander. Kerr then followed up the long-ball with a spot up jump shot to make it 5-0 FSU in the early portion of the first half. Fairmont rallied to tie the score at 14 a piece with 13:57 left in the first half.

Both teams traded baskets until a 15-8 run by Fairmont State gave the Falcons a 37-32 advantage with 4:19 left in the first half.  Frostburg was held scoreless for almost five minutes late in the first half, failing to score until a Williams layup with 2:15 left.

The Bobcats started the second half on fire from the floor scoring the first six points to make it a five point game, 46-41 Fairmont. William scored two baskets while Alexander nailed a jump shot to spark the Bobcat attack. Junior Joe Adedayo drilled a three pointer minutes later making the score 48-44 Fairmont.

A 16-5 run by the Falcons gave Fairmont a 66-49 advantage with 10:43 left in the game. The Falcons didn't look back as the lead ballooned to 87-60 with 4:30 left in the game.

Alexander finished the game with 10 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Kerr poured in 13 points on 6-8 shooting from the floor and tallied four rebounds. Adedayo ended the day with 11 points and six boards.
