Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Emory Reaches 1,000 Career Points

.FROSTBURG, Md. – A seemingly perfect script regarding senior Amanda Emory's four-year career took one impressive step closer to completion on Wednesday night during Frostburg's 71-59 win over Davis & Elkins.

Emory entered the night needing just five points for 1,000 during her career and she hit a free throw with 5:12 showing in the second that made her the 20th player in women's basketball history to achieve the milestone. And the Halethorpe Md. native did so in her final home game of her career as FSU will conclude its season on Saturday at Fairmont.

While Emory's first-quarter milestone kick started the night, a strong second quarter put the Bobcats in front for good. Frostburg (4-22, 4-17) outscored the Senators (7-20, 6-15) 21-13 in the second quarter to lead 37-33 at halftime.

Emory hit a jumper at 8:12 that gave Frostburg the lead for good. The Bobcats led by as many as eight when first-year Kaitlyn Rogers hit a three at 3:14.

The Bobcats continued that momentum in the second half, leading by as many as 14 points with 3:21 to play in the third. D&E narrowed the gap to seven, 53-46 after the third frame.

First-year Ciara Thomas hit a three-pointer early in the fourth for a 58-46 lead and sophomore Anhai Allen later knocked down two foul shots that pushed FSU's cushion to a game-high 15 points, 71-56 with 2:27 to play.

Emory finished the night with 15 points to lead the team. She also contributed seven rebounds, four assists and five blocks. Graduate Victoria Diggs and Thomas each finished with 11.

Sydney Nestor led the Senators with 17 points with five three-pointers.

The Bobcats return to action at Fairmont on Saturday at 2:00 pm.
