FLORENCE, S.C. – The Frostburg State softball team lost both games on its second day of the Fox Sizzler Tournament in Florence, S.C. The Bobcats fell to Emmanuel in the first game 8-0 and lost to Francis Marion 7-1 in the second game of the day.

Game 1:

Frostburg went down early in the game as the Lions jumped out to take the lead 2-0 in the first inning.

Emmanuel increased their lead in the third inning batting in five runs to make the score 7-0. The Lions scored their last run in the fifth inning to win 8-0

Sophomore Amber Keene, senior Claire Hanlon, junior Kayleigh Krause, and first-year Brianna Powell each earned one hit in the game for the Bobcats.

Junior Taylor McCarty started on the mound for the Bobcats throwing for two innings facing 16 batters allowing six runs and throwing three strikeouts. Â

Game 2:

The Patriots jumped out to a 3-0 lead after scoring two runs in the first inning and one run in the second. The Bobcats got on the board after sophomore Kennadie Batchelor earned a walk with the bases loaded allowing sophomore Erica Payne to advance home making the score 3-1 after the third inning.

Francis Marion earned five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to increase its lead after five innings of play and eventually take the win 7-1.

Payne as well as juniors Kat Treff and Aliyah Ramey each collected one hit in the game for the Bobcats.
Â
First-year Shawna Leonard went the distance in the second game, pitching all seven innings allowing 11 hits and seven runs for the Bobcats.

Frostburg returns to action on Saturday to take on Elizabeth City State and Chowan at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
