BUCKHANNON, W. Va.- The Frostburg State women's basketball team defeated the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats on Wednesday night with a score of 73-57. This marks the second conference win for Frostburg pushing them to 3-14 overall while West Virginia Wesleyan moves to 3-14 overall.

The first quarter kicked off with a dominating 18-6 run from Frostburg State as senior Amanda Emory and graduate Victoria Diggs immediately led the team in scoring with five points each. The team outscored Wesleyan 18-8.Â

The scoring gap was closed in the second quarter as Wesleyan scored 15 points. The quarter started with a score of 20-8 as first-year Arianna Briggs-Hall made a layup to increase the score in favor of Frostburg. Wesleyan then went on a 9-6 run where they found some momentum to get closer to Frostburg State. Wesleyan's Nicole Gilyard led the team in scoring during the run with five points. With a minute left in the half Emory hit a three pointer giving the Bobcats a 10 point cushion at 31-21. In the last seconds of the half junior Sydney Stotler converted on two free throws going into halftime with a score of 35-23 in favor of Frostburg.

Frostburg State's leader in points, Emory, started the scoring of the second half with an immediate layup eight seconds into the half. After some back and forth play, Frostburg pulled ahead with an 9-8 run. Diggs led the scoring during the run with five points. The team was four of seven from the field during the run. After no scoring for about a minute and a half Frostburg exploded on another 9-2 run. Sophomore Morgan Dombroski dominated during the run with six points.

The fourth quarter tallied a combined total of 35 points as Frostburg tallied 18 points and Wesleyan recorded 17. Frostburg hit their first shot of the quarter at 7:52 from Briggs-Hall bringing the score to 58-42. Dombroski followed up a few minutes later with a three pointer and continued the scoring with a jumper at 4:37. As the clock winded down, Emory and Diggs jit a jumper and three pointer, respectively.

Emory finished in a double-double, for the third time this season, with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Briggs-Hall led the team in rebounds with 12 while Dombroski led the team in steals with three.
