Bobcats Drop Second OT Game This Season

FROSTBURG, Md. – Wynnsome Gadson scored with 1:45 left in overtime to lift the visiting Seton Hill Griffins to a 2-1 extra time win over Frostburg, Wednesday at Bobcat Stadium.

Seton Hill improves to 1-4 overall on the season, while FSU slips to 0-8.

The Griffins scored the game's first goal midway through the first frame when Gadson connected with Nicole Susi for a 1-0 lead. Gadson attempted two shots before Susi's goal and both were saved by senior FSU keeper Sierra Smizer.

Smizer added two more saves in the third, fourth and overtime frames and she finished the night with eight.

Bobcat junior forward Gabby Rachuba scored her team-leading third goal of the fall campaign when she knocked a shot into the left side of the next off a pass from classmate Sam Coffey at 35:35.

First-year Taylor Henderson had back-to-back shots saved in the 40th minute and Henderson later had a shot kicked away at 52:07. Rachuba had a chance to give Frostburg a 2-1 lead when she ripped a shot wide right of the net with just under five minutes to go in regulation off a penalty corner.

In overtime, Bobcat sophomore Taylor Hackett smacked a reverse shot off a penalty corner wide left of the goal just 1:21 into action.

The Griffins countered with back-to-back shots from Gadson. Her first shot at 61:47 was saved by Smizer, while her second shot was kept from going in the net when junior defender Brooke Lafayette collected her second defensive save of the season.

Moments later, Frostburg had a chance to win the game in extra time as first-year Rachael Rallo had a shot saved by Elizabeth Armbruster, while Rallo's second attempt was cleared off the backline by defender Molly Carbone.

The Griffins picked up the win with 1:45 showing on the clock when Gadson scored off a pass from Colleen Roy for the win.

Frostburg returns to action on Friday when it hosts Mansfield at 3:00 pm.
