FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Frostburg softball infield duo of senior Olivia Ford and first-year Amber Keene have garnered All-Capital Athletic Conference Second Team honors announced by the league office earlier today.
Ford, second base, and Keene, third base, helped the Bobcats to 17 wins and the CAC Tournament Pod B Final this past Saturday.
Frostburg led the league in triples (16) and finished second in doubles (65) and stolen bases (69). Ford and Keene finished near the top of every statistical categories for FSU, including a handful of record-setting efforts.
Ford, a native of Leonardtown, Md., set Frostburg's single season and tied the CAC's season mark with 31 stolen bases on the season. She also paced the Bobcats and finished fourth in the league with 35 runs scored.
As Frostburg's lead-off hitter, Ford hit .344 with 42 hits, three doubles and eight RBI.
Keene burst on the scene in her first season to pace the team in batting average (.433), walks (17), hits (52), RBI (33), doubles (16), triples (3), home runs (6) and total bases (92). Her 16 doubles also leads the CAC.
A native of Conowingo, Md., Keene slugged .767, posted a on-base percentage of .500 and reached base safely in 37 of 39 games.
