FROSTBURG, Md. – It has been announced this morning by Frostburg State Director of Athletics Troy A. Dell that Guy Robertson has been promoted to the new position of Associate Athletic Director for External Operations.
Robertson has served as an Assistant Athletic Director and head baseball coach for the last 12 years and he will transition out of coaching and into the associate role in the late spring.
In his new role, Robertson will become the university's first-ever fundraiser dedicated primarily to the athletic department.
He will oversee programs relating to the cultivation of external relationships and revenue streams for the athletic department and he will be responsible for building long and short-term strategies for growing support of athletics in conjunction with the Director of Athletics and the VP of Advancement.
Robertson will also be responsible for developing, maintaining and growing the athletic department's sponsorship agreements for static, digital, and print media for intercollegiate athletics.
Robertson becomes the second coach under Dell's leadership to transition out of a dual role as a head coach and into an administrator. In the fall of 2007, Dell promoted Rubin Stevenson into the Associate Director of Athletics for Gameday Operations position after serving as FSU's head football coach and director of compliance.
Robertson arrived in Frostburg in the fall of '07 and instantly turned the Bobcats into a nationally prominent program. Under his guidance, Frostburg has captured 308 wins with three trips to the NCAA Tournament, eight All-Americans, nearly 50 All-CAC honorees and a draft pick with MLB's Atlanta Braves.
In 2015, Robertson powered the Bobcats to the NCAA World Series and the program's first-ever NCAA Mideast Region Championship. He was named the CAC Coach of Year as well as the D3baseball.com, ECAC and ABCA South Region Coach of the Year.
As an Assistant AD, Robertson served as Frostburg's Compliance Director and oversaw the operations and setup of the Regents Cup Game, the football program's annual battle with in-state rival Salisbury.
Frostburg will announce a national search to replace Robertson as the program's head coach in the coming weeks.
