FROSTBURG, Md. – Senior Morgan Cavey scored five of Frostburg's six goals on Wednesday in a 23-6 home loss to No. 8 York (Pa.) in CAC action.
Cavey finished with five goals on six shots on goal to lead the Bobcats (3-10, 0-2) in scoring. Sophomore Stephanie King added one goal and two assists, while sophomore Maggie Roszko, first-year Shelby Brunett, sophomore Summer Cavey and sophomore Lindsay Kohlmann each handed out one assist.
Senior keeper Abigail McClure finished with 10 saves on the afternoon, including seven in the opening half of action. She also led the way for the Bobcats with nine ground balls, while first-year Emily Chick scooped up five.
The Spartans won for the fourth-straight game after opening the afternoon with the game's first nine goals. Nine different players scored during the outburst for the visitors who improved to 9-4 overall and 2-0 in the league.
Morgan Cavey scored back-to-back tallies at 17:12 and again at 14:24 and her third score of the opening half came at 12:37 to cut the deficit to 10-3.
However, YCP closed the half with the next eight goals for an 18-3 advantage at intermission.
King opened the second stanza with her only goal of the contest at 28:12 and Cavey later connected on shots at 19:36 and with 3:29 to play.
Celly Arthur led York with three goals and two assists, while 15 different players registered at least one point.
Frostburg returns to action on Saturday at Christopher Newport at 2:00 pm.
