Bobcats Stumble In Midweek Matchup Against W&J

WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Frostburg State baseball team lost to Washington and Jefferson in a midweek nonconference matchup, 6-0 on Wednesday afternoon.

The loss moves FSU to 11-16-1 overall while W&J moves to a 23-9 record in the 2019 campaign.

Frostburg's offense started with a 1-out single by sophomore Tre D'Amico, who eventually was left at second base after back-to-back lineouts by Bobcat hitters.

The home half of the first was capitalized by an RBI single to centerfield by senior Spencer Howell to give W&J a 1-0 lead.

W&J scored runs in the next three innings to make the lead grow to 5-0. The Presidents added another run in the 8th inning off a single by senior Josh Crummer, ending the game scoring at 6-0.

FSU threw seven pitchers in the matchup, sophomore Josh Clegg threw one inning, striking out two batters and allowing only one hit.

Offensively, D'Amico finished 1-for-3 at the plate, while senior Jason Parades went 1-for-4 at the dish.

FSU will next host a three-game series this weekend against Penn State Harrisburg. Game one will take place Friday, April 26 at 3:30 p.m. followed by a doubleheader starting on Saturday celebrating the Bobcats Senior Day.
