NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Sophomore Stephanie King led the way for the Frostburg State women's lacrosse team as she scored three of Frostburg's eight goals in the 21-8 CAC loss against the Captains.
King led the team offensively with three goals, one assist and four shots on goal. Behind King was senior Morgan Cavey with two goals, one assist and four shots on goal. Sophomore Maggie Roszko, junior Molly Biggers and first-year Shelby Brunett all tallied one goal as well.
Sophomore Teresa Stabler made her debut between the pipes registering nine saves on the day.
King also led in ground balls collecting three, while first-year Chloee Johnson caused three turnovers.
Christopher Newport opened the game on a 6-0 run before the Bobcats halted to the run with a goal from Brunett.
The Captains responded with two more goals before King registered all three of her goals between 19:17 and 16:57 of the first period.
The second period saw more goals from Frostburg as Cavey, Biggers and Roszko all scored at least once.
This win advances the Captains to 8-8 overall and 2-3 in Capital Athletic Conference play. The Bobcats fall to 3-11 overall and 0-3 in conference.
Frostburg returns to action on April 16 at home against Southern Virginia for a 4:30 p.m. start.
