Bobcats Stung By Hornets In Road Loss

LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Frostburg State women's lacrosse team was defeated by Lynchburg, 18-7 on the road on Saturday afternoon.
 
Bobcat sophomore Maggie Roszko opened the game's scoring, taking a pass from junior Molly Biggers and depositing it into the back of the net. Sophomore Stephanie King added FSU's second goal of the contest 14 seconds later to give the Bobcats an early 2-0 lead.
 
Lynchburg answered with two goals to tie the game, but the Bobcats jumped back ahead with two goals of their own, one from a free position shot from senior Morgan Cavey and the other from Biggers.
 
The Hornets went on to score six-straight goals, two from junior Kelsi Trevisan to take an 8-4 lead, and never look back.
 
After a Bobcat goal from first-year Mackenzie Cramer, the Hornets went on a 5-0 run to close out the first half and take a 13-5 lead into halftime.
 
The Hornets picked up where they left off after the intermission, scoring three unanswered goals, two from the stick of Alicia Sandoval, to take a commanding 16-5 lead with 23:25 remaining in regulation.
 
Frostburg scored two goals in the final half, one from Morgan Cavey and the other from her sophomore sister Summer Cavey, but eventually fell, 18-7.
 
Six different Bobcats scored goals in the contest, two from Morgan Cavey. She also added three shots while King had a goal and two assists. Biggers won a game-high six draw controls, while senior goalie Abigail McClure saved 13 shots, 11 of which came in the first half.
 
Overall, Lynchburg outshot the Bobcats, 37-11 and held a 15-12 draw control advantage. Frostburg also had 21 turnovers, while the Hornets only turned the ball over 11 times.
