Bobcat Women Fall To Hornets At Home

FROSTBURG, Md. – Senior Morgan Cavey and sophomore Lindsay Kohlmann each scored four goals in Frostburg's 24-12 loss to Shenandoah in women's lacrosse action, Wednesday.
 
Cavey's four goals are a season-best, while Kohlmann's four tallies are a career-high. Cavey also added an assist as the Bobcats slip to 1-4 overall on the spring.
 
Sophomore Maggie Roszko also tallied a career-best with five points behind four assists and one goal. Classmate Summer Cavey finished with two goals and one assist.
 
Morgan Cavey scored an unassisted tally just 29 seconds into the first half for a quick 1-0 Frostburg lead. Just over two minutes into the game, Roszko found first-year Shelby Brunett as the Bobcats tied the game at 2-2.
 
Shenandoah then scored eight of the game's next nine goals for a commanding 10-3 edge just past the midway point of the opening half. Cassie Arndt scored the first two goals of the outburst for SU, while Alyson Bittinger scored the final three.
 
The Bobcats later closed the first half on a 3-1 scoring advantage to narrow their deficit to 15-7 at intermission. Morgan Cavey and Kohlman scored back-to-back goals at 9:11 and 7:49 and Summer Cavey closed the first with a goal at 2:22.
 
Kohlmann and Roszko scored two early goals in the second to further cut into the deficit as the Bobcats trailed just 16-9.
 
The Hornets slowly pushed their lead to 10-plus goals over the remainder of the second half.
 
Shenandoah outscored FSU 43-27 and the two schools finished with an even 19 draw controls each.
 
Four different players registered four points to power the Hornets. Kaitlyn Morris, Nikki Zerna and Macy Tignor each scored four times.
 
Frostburg returns to action on Saturday at Susquehanna at 1:00 pm.
