Women’s Basketball to Take on Mary Washington in CAC Tournament

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State women's basketball team has netted the fifth seed in the Capital Athletic Conference 2018-19 women's basketball tournament. The Bobcats will travel to fourth-seeded Mary Washington on Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. for the quarterfinal matchup.
 
The Bobcats posted their winningest season in the CAC era with a 15-9 overall record, including a 7-7 mark in conference play. The Bobcats are looking to secure the first CAC tournament win in program history.
 
FSU and Mary Washington split their season series during the regular season. The Bobcats knocked off Mary Washington for the first time since 2003-04 with a 54-40 victory at Bobcat Arena on January 2. The Eagles Triumphed 59-45 in the rematch in Fredericksburg, Va. on January 26.
 
The Bobcats finished the regular season with the second-best free throw percentage (67.7) and three-point percentage (31.9) in the CAC. The Bobcats posted the third-ranked scoring defense at 57.3 points per game against and the fourth-ranked scoring offense at 62.3 points per game.
 
Junior Victoria Diggs finished the regular season as the CAC's fourth-leading scorer at 15.1 points per game. She ranked third in the conference with 67 steals and fifth with 61 three-pointers.
 
Junior Amanda Emory was the CAC's fifth-leading scorer in conference play at 14.5 points per game. She finished third in rebounding (8.4), fourth in blocks (18) and field goal percentage (50.3) and seventh in assists (37).
 
Senior Megan Kelly is the Bobcats' third-leading scorer at 8.9 points per game, and she ranked sixth in the conference in three-pointers made (49) and eighth in three-point percentage (35.8).
 
Mary Washington enters the CAC tournament with a 13-12 record and 7-7 mark in conference play. The Eagles led the league in scoring defense, allowing just 53.5 points per game. UMW posted the CAC's second-best field goal percentage defense (33.1), three-point percentage defense (27.0), and rebounding margin per game (+6.1). Mary Washington also finished number two in field goal percentage (40.3) and free throws attempted and made per game (13.5-20.2).
 
The Eagles are led by junior Emily Thompson (12.4 PPG) and senior Jordan Pamlayne (11.8 PPG, 8.1 RPG).
