INSTITUTE, W.Va. - Frostburg senior Daniel Alexander scored 22 and first-year Jaylon Johnson added 21 as the Bobcats lost to West Virginia State, 103-80, Wednesday.Â

The game marked the third time this winter that the Bobcats have scored over 80 points, but FSU led only once when sophomore Jasiah Perry hit two free throws for a 2-1 edge.Â

Frostburg falls to 2-5 overall on the year and 1-2 in the Mountain East. W.Va. State is now 5-1 overall and 2-1 in the league thanks to its second-consecutive league victory.Â

Late in the first half, Glen Abram hit a three-pointer and Anthony Pittman scored two points on a dunk as the Yellow Jacket lead swelled to 17, 39-22 with 4:27 showing. Â

Michal Seals pushed the lead to a first-half high of 18, 42-24 with a jumper at 3:10 and State led 49-35 at intermission. Â

Frostburg trimmed its second-half deficit to single digits on several occasions, the first when Alexander hit two free throws at 11:02 to cut the score to 67-58.Â

At 9:39, Johnson connected on a three-pointer as the deficit was trimmed to eight, 71-63. With just over five minutes to play, junior Joe Adedayo hit a layup and three-pointer for an 85-77 score.Â

The Yellow Jackets closed the game on an 18-3 run to finish the game with a 23-point win.Â

Alexander added eight rebounds and four assists to his 22-point outing. Johnson came off the bench to score 21 on 8-of-16 shooting, while junior Leondre Rogers scored 10.Â

W.Va. State was led in scoring by Abram with 24 points, while Seals added 19.Â
