GLENVILLE, W.VA. – Frostburg State fell to 2-7 overall and 1-4 in MEC play after a defeat to Glenville State by a score of 119-89. The win improves the Pioneers' record to 7-2 (4-1) on the season.
Glenville State got off to a hot start to take an early 20-11 lead in the first half. The Bobcats would cut the deficit down to six over the next few possessions, thanks to layups from junior Sean Patterson and senior Terry Kenner and a mid-range jumper from senior Daniel Alexander. Glenville State would put on a strong offensive display for the remainder of the half to lead 62-39 after 20 minutes.
Neither team was able to put together a run in the second half as the Pioneers maintained their lead. Alexander had 10 of his 18 points in the final 20 minutes, while first-year Marcellus Carroll scored eight points on 4-for-4 shooting in the second half.
Sophomore Bo Schene collected his first career double-double, pouring in 11 points while grabbing 11 rebounds. Schene has now scored in double figures off the bench in back-to-back games.
Alexander led the Bobcats in scoring with 18 points to go alone with eight rebounds and a season-high five assists. Senior Lawrence Pettis Jr. dropped 11 points, his third double-digit scoring output in four games played this season.
