Frostburg Women Fall In OT To Seton Hill

GREENSBURG, Pa. – Sunday afternoon, Frostburg returned to non-conference action after the Thanksgiving break with an away matchup with the Seton Hill Griffins.
 
Frostburg led at the half 36-31 until Seton Hill used a 24-19 third quarter then outscored the Bobcats 15-8 in overtime for an 85-78 win.  FSU is now 1-6 overall while SHU is 6-0 on the season.
 
First-year Arianna Briggs-Hall hit a layup and converted on a free throw after being fouled to cut the Griffins lead down to four with 7:39 left to play in the first half. Briggs-Hall finished the half converting two free throws after being fouled to put the Bobcats on top 36-31.
 
Seton Hill opened the second half with a 7-2 run tying the game 38-38. A three pointer from Graduate senior Victoria Diggs with a second left in the quarter tied the game 55-55.
 
Both teams battled back and forth in the fourth quarter until a Griffins layup by Katie Nolan put the hosts up by two with 18 seconds to play. First-year Ciara Thomas sent the game into overtime for Frostburg hitting a layup with seconds remaining.
 
The teams exchanged one free throw to start the overtime period. The Griffins then converted three free throws and a three pointer to take a 77-71 lead with 1:29 left to play. A layup by Junior Jada Holland would be answered with a Griffin layup from Lexi Civittolo closing the game for the hosts.
 
Diggs powered FSU with 17 points on the offensive end of the floor, while Holland posted her fourth double-double of the campaign with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Thomas scored 17 points while senior Briggs-Hall contributed 11.
 
Frostburg returns to action this Wednesday at West Virginia State at 5:30 pm.
