FROSTBURG, Md. – With its playoff lives at stake, the Frostburg women's soccer team could not get past Charleston in a pivotal MEC game. The Bobcats were blanked at home 2-0 by the Golden Eagles.
The first 45-minutes of play was a seesaw battle, which tipped in favor of the visitors from Charleston. Keira Hill lasered a shot from approximately 20 yards away, just past the outstretched arms of senior goalkeeper Emily Faust.
The second half played out very similarly, however the Bobcats could not muster a shot on goal. Hill once again would strike for Charleston, racing past the defense and slamming home a shot past first-year goalkeeper Taylor Longworth.
For the game, Frostburg was outshot by Charleston 14-11, including an 8-5 SOG disadvantage. Faust played the first half in net and made a pair of saves, while Longworth relieved the senior for the second half and stopped a pair of shots on goal.
The offense, as per usual, was led by senior Brooke Shehade, who had multiple close calls off of her five shots taken. She was one of five Bobcats to attempt a shot on goal.
Frostburg State returns to the pitch one more time on Saturday, November 9 with a road game at Fairmont State at 4:00 pm.
