Duo Named Academic All-District

FROSTBURG, Md. – The 2019 Academic All-District Football Teams has been released by the College Sports Information Directors of America and Frostburg seniors Walter Riley and Vincent Persichetti were named to the Super Region I First Team.
 
Riley, a defensive lineman, carries a 3.67 GPA and majors in mathematics. He was selected to the 2018-19 NJAC All-Academic Team and is a five-time Dean's List student.
 
Persichetti, a defensive back, boasts a 3.57 GPA and dual majors in sociology and law and society. He is a three-time NJAC All-Academic honoree, is a William V. Campbell Trophy of the National Football Foundation (NFF) nominee for academics and is a six-time Dean's List student.
 
A season ago, the duo were both named to the All-NJAC teams for their play on the field and together, they have helped Frostburg to NCAA Playoff appearances in 2017 and 2018 and they have helped FSU to 39 wins during their careers.
 
Frostburg is in its first season at the NCAA Division II level this fall and is 8-2 through 10 games. The Bobcats wrap up their season tomorrow at Glenville at 1:00 pm.
 
The Super Region I teams consists of schools from the Great Midwest, Mountain East, Northeast 10 and Pennsylvania State Athletic Conferences.
 
With their selection to the first team, both Riley and Persichetti will now move to the national ballot for consideration for Academic All-American and if selected, will be announced on December 10.
