WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. - On Friday night, the Bobcats lost to the West Liberty Hilltoppers in a three set match. FSU falls to 10-12 overall 2-8 in the Mountain East Conference while WLU advance to 14-11 overall 6-4 in MEC play.

Frostburg lost on the road after being defeated by scores of 25-15, 25-15, and 25-23.

Sophomore Raven Pratt had eight kills on the night while first-year Jackie Sterenberg also had eight kills with three service aces. First-year Edwyna Lainez earned 24 assists while senior Cori Smothers recorded 17 digs and two service aces.

West Liberty took the lead at the beginning of the first set 5-2 off three kills and two FSU attack errors. Later in the set, a 5-1 Frostburg run powered by a service ace from senior Bailey Godlove and a kill from Sterenberg and sophomore Hailey Altemus had the Bobcats down by just four points 15-11. A 10-4 Hilltopper run earned WLU the first set win.

FSU tied the beginning of the second set 3-3 after a Sterenberg kill and Godlove service ace. Play continued back and forth until an 8-1 Hilltopper run put them ahead 22-14. Three straight Alissa Dickson kills won the second set for West Liberty.

WLU took a 7-4 lead in the third set until a 6-1 Bobcat run fueled by a Smothers service ace, two Godlove kills, and a kill each from Sterenberg and Pratt captured the lead 10-8. A 4-0 Hilltopper run would be matched by a 4-0 Bobcat run to take a three point lead 21-18. WLU scored two points to make the score 21-20 before FSU scored two points of their own from a Godlove kill and Smothers service ace making the score 23-20. Frostburg couldn't force a fourth set as West Liberty scored five straight points including four kills to win the match.
