FROSTBURG, Md. - On Saturday afternoon, the Bobcats were defeated by the Concord University Mountain Lions in a five set match. Frostburg falls to 10-11 overall and 2-7 in the Mountain East Conference while Concord improves to 7-15 overall and 2-6 in the MEC.

The Bobcats fell at home to the Mountain Lions by scores of 25-20, 20-25, 25-18, 20-25, and 13-15.

FSU hit .125 against CU with 46 kills. The Bobcats also collected 10 service aces and 94 digs. First-year Jackie Sterenberg had 14 kills, 16 digs, and four service aces on the afternoon while sophomore Hailey Altemus recorded nine kills. First-year Edwyna Lainez earned 36 assists and two service aces. Senior Cori Smothers recorded 30 digs while her classmate Kathryn Lough had 20 digs.

FSU started the first set by taking the lead 3-2 off a kill from first-year Raven Pratt. Play continued back and forth until a 4-0 Bobcat run fueled by two service aces and a kill from Sterenberg and a kill from Pratt to take the lead 15-12. Kills from senior Bailey Godlove and Sterenberg as well as two service aces by Lainez earned Frostburg the first set win.

The beginning of the second set started just like the first with play going back and forth until a 5-0 Bobcat run put them up 9-6. Later in the set the Mountain Lions take control 24-18 after a 7-1 run. A kill from Kenzie Coulter earned the second set win for Concord. FSU went ahead in the third set 7-4 powered by two Sterenberg kills and a service ace from first-year Jordan Patrick. Later in the set the Bobcats went on a big 10-2 run which led to a kill and service ace by Sternberg to win the set.

Frostburg re-captured the lead in the fourth set 8-7 after a kill from Sterenberg. Both teams battled back and forth in the set until an 8-2 Mountain Lion run took the fourth set to force a fifth and final set. FSU went up 6-3 in the beginning of the fifth set off two kills from Altemus and a service ace from Godlove. CU battled back to re-take the lead 7-6 off a 4-0 run. The Bobcats cut the lead to within one 13-12 off a 3-0 run. A kill from Amber Hall won the set and match for the visiting Mountain Lions. Â
