Bobcats Drop Non-League Tilt Against Queens

FROSTBURG, Md. – Queens University of Charlotte scored three goals in the third quarter to seal a 4-0 shutout of Frostburg State in non-league field hockey, Tuesday afternoon.
 
The Bobcats slip to 0-12 on the season, while Queens won for the third time in four games and improved to 8-5 overall.
 
The Royals outshot FSU 10-2 in the first half and the visitors scored on their ninth shot of the first half.
 
A centering pass found the stick of Sherman who's first shot was saved by FSU keeper Sierra Smizer. Sherman collected the saved attempt and found the back of the cage for a 1-0 cushion at the half.
 
Five minutes into the second half, Queens tacked on its second goal. Hanna Nechay dropped a pass into the circle to Erin O'Reilly who connected on a shot for a 2-0 lead.
 
The third goal came in the 39th minute when Molly Walter rebounded her own shot and scored at 38:53.
 
The Royals scored again in the 45th minute off a penalty corner. Sherman took the corner and passed the ball into the circle. Waterfield gathered the pass and fired a shot towards the net that was tipped home by Hanna Nechay.
 
Smizer notched double-digit saves for the fifth time this fall as she stopped 12 shots. She made one save in the first quarter and added five more in the second frame to keep the score in reach after two periods.
 
Despite the three goals allowed in the third frame, Smizer made six saves in the third.
 
Frostburg returns to the field at Converse in Spartanburg, S.C. on Saturday at 11:00 am.
