FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State women's soccer team blanked the Glenville State Pioneers 5-0 giving the Bobcats their fourth conference win. The Bobcats move to 4-6-1 overall and 4-4 in conference play.
Most of the first half was played in a scoreless tie, despite Frostburg State taking significantly more shots. The Bobcats held a 9-2 shot advantage in the first half, including a 7-2 shot on goal edge.
The Bobcats were able to crack the scoreboard late in the first half when senior Brooke Shehade lobbed the ball off of the top of her left foot and found the open crease in the top left side of the net. The late goal was the only one tallied in the first 45 minutes of play.
Frostburg State wasted little time getting back to work in the second half. In the fourth minute of the half, Shehade found first-year Marley Copes behind the defense and beat out Pioneer goalkeeper Morgan Smailes for Copes's first collegiate goal.
Frostburg continued the scoring streak, when a pair of Bobcat goals were tallied a minute and 14 seconds apart. Sophomore Audra Curtin beat out the Pioneer defense and scored off of the right side. Shehade would follow a minute later by slamming home a ball ricocheted in the box.
Finally, sophomore Mina Del Borrello scored her first collegiate in the waning minutes after getting the assist from senior Erika Allen, her first career point as well.
Senior Emily Faust got her first start of the season in the net and made eight saves for the Bobcats, her highest total since 2017. Sophomore Stephanie Vigezzi relieved Faust late in the second half but did not face a shot.
Frostburg State doubled up Glenville State in shots 18-9, including a 14-8 advantage in shots on goal. The Bobcats have also scored five or more goals in three of the last four home games.
FSU returns to the pitch on Thursday with a road trip to Concord University. It will mark the first time since 2011 the Bobcats and the Mountain Lions have faced off. For more information, visit
