BECKLEY, W. Va. - On Thursday afternoon the Frostburg State women's soccer team fell to Concord on the road 3-1. The Bobcats now sit at 4-7-1 overall and 4-4 in conference play. Concord advances to 10-1 overall and 5-1 in MEC matchups.
The first five minutes of the game resulted in the first goal from the Concord Mountain Lions to give them a 1-0 cushion. Frostburg responded shortly after with a shot by senior Brooke Shehade that sailed left of the goal. Several minutes later at 18:26, sophomore Audra Curtin also took a shot but missed to the left as well.
The Mountain Lions found the back of the net after a corner kick at 20:33 for the 2-0 lead. Concord would add their final goal of the match at 25:45 giving them the eventual 3-1 win. The Bobcats scored in the final minutes of the first half. Shehade found the back of the net off an assist from Curtin at 42:49 sealing the final score.
The second half was a tough defensive stand as no more goals were allowed but only one shot was taken by the Bobcats. Shehade missed the net to the right at 47:26 for the last Bobcat shot of the day.
Frostburg was outshot 27-5 throughout the match while the Mountain Lions also tallied 12 corners while the Bobcats could not register one.
Senior goalkeeper Emily Faust played a full 90 minutes of action while tallying 16 saves on the day; a season-high for Faust.
