BUENA VISTA, Va. – The Frostburg women's basketball team dropped its first Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) game of the season with a 63-54 setback at Southern Virginia, Wednesday night.

Juniors Victoria Diggs and Sydney Stotler each scored 11 points to pace the Bobcats offensively. Diggs also led Frostburg in rebounding with eight boards as FSU saw its six-game winning streak come to an end.

The Bobcats settle at 10-3 overall and 2-1 in the league while the Knights improve to 12-1 and 3-0. SVU currently is riding an 11-game winning streak.

Frostburg led in the early going as Diggs connected on a three-pointer at 8:03 for a 6-2 cushion and moments later, junior Victoria Yoder hit two foul shots for an 8-5 lead for the Bobcats.

Junior Amanda Emory hit a three-pointer at 4:59 and Stotler hit a layup at 4:16 and both baskets gave FSU three-point leads.

SVU slowly overcame the first-quarter deficits to lead 16-14 after the first quarter and it would never trail again. The Bobcats cut their deficit to five on several occasions in the second frame but trailed 33-26 at intermission. Senior Megan Kelly hit a pair of three-pointers that cut the score to 22-17 at 5:45 and again to 27-22 at 3:20.

The second half saw much of the same for the Bobcats as they trimmed their to deficit to five several times, including a four-point deficit in the fourth, but the Knights proved to strong.

Diggs hit a three-pointer at 4:35 in the third to cut the score to 41-36 after Southern Virginia led by 10 just moments earlier.

Frostburg trailed by 10 to open the fourth, but didn't back down as another three-pointer from Diggs with just 1:42 remaining pulled the visitors within four at 58-54.

However, Frostburg wouldn't score again as the Knights pushed their lead to 63-54 at the final horn.
