FROSTBURG Md. – The Frostburg men's soccer team made a late push in an attempt to tie the game, but Dickinson held off the attack to hold on to the 2-1 victory.
FSU's lone goal was the first goal of the match off the foot of sophomore forward Mo Odolla. Odolla took advantage of a loose ball that was misplayed by Dickinson keeper John Baney, in the game's 11
th minute.
Baney was injured on the play, causing Dickinson's backup keeper Frederick Meagher to patrol the Red Devils' goal.
The Devils answered the Bobcats' goal with one of their own, as junior midfielder Kevin Gilbert scored an unassisted goal off of a Bobcat turnover in the 20
th minute. The two teams went into halftime deadlocked at one goal apiece.
Dickinson came out firing in the second half, as they outpaced FSU in shots, 12-6 in the final 45 minutes. Their one successful shot of the half came in the 51
st minute, as Gilbert added his second goal of the night to give the Red Devils a 2-1 lead.
The Bobcats turned up their attack in the final minutes of the game, as they attempted four of their nine total shots in the game's last three minutes.
The Bobcats fell to 3-5 on the season while the Red Devils' record increases to 4-2-1. Meagher earned the goalie win for Dickinson saving four shots, while FSU first-year goalie Joel Assal took the loss with five saves.
The Bobcats will take the field again against King's College on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. at Bobcat Field.
