FROSTBURG, Md. – A pair of second half goals carried Baldwin Wallace to a 2-1 come-from-behind win over Frostburg, Saturday afternoon, in non-conference women's soccer action.
The loss drops FSU to 1-4, while the Yellow Jackets improve to 4-1-1.
The Bobcats scored first for a 1-0 advantage when senior Hailey Turney crossed a pass from the endline to sophomore Emily Lehman. Lehman's shot from 10 yards out touched the net over the outstretched arms of BW keeper Emma Bruno for her first goal of the season.
In the 38
th minute, senior Melissa Krocheck hit the post with a shot and Bruno knocked away three shots from FSU in the closing minutes of the half to keep the Bobcat lead at 1-0.
Baldwin Wallace's best chance in the opening stanza came in the 11
th minute when Rachel Bender hit a right footed shot on net before it caromed off the right post and back into play.
The Jackets evened the contest just 5:25 into the second half when Michelina Rush scored off a pass from Bender. The visitors scored the game-winner in the 62
nd minute when Bender found the net.
Krofcheck had a shot in the 52
nd minute turned away by Bruno and senior Danielle Ferris had a shot saved by Bruno at 84:07.
Frostburg outshot Baldwin Wallace 12-10 and FSU held a decisive advantage in corner kicks (6-2).
Senior Rihanna Lapen posted her only save of the afternoon in the opening half, while Bruno earned the win after collecting five saves.
Frostburg returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Bridgewater at 7:00 pm.
