147 Bobcats Named CAC All-Academic




FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Capital Athletic Conference released its 2017-18 All-Academic Team and 147 Frostburg State student-athletes were honored by the league office, Thursday morning.
 
Frostburg's 147 total athletes finished sixth among the 10 conference members. The Bobcats had 42.7 percent (147-of-344) of their student-athletes honored, good for eighth in the league.
 
A record 1,514 athletes received academic recognition among the league schools. In order to be selected, student-athletes must have attained a 3.20 grade point average throughout the 2017-18 academic year. York (Pa.) led the charge with 261 student-athletes honored.
 
The Frostburg women's soccer team led the way with 22 All-Academic selections. The men's lacrosse team checked in with 18 honorees and men's soccer followed with 12.
 
Women's lacrosse added 10 athletes to the list, with field hockey, softball, volleyball, women's swimming each having nine honorees. On the men's side, baseball earned nine selections while men's track and field had eight.
 
A total of 19 FSU student-athletes were named CAC All-Academic for all four seasons of their careers. That group includes two Google Cloud Academic All-Americans, soccer player Melanie Bell and sprinter Kayla Truesdel.
