Bobcat Men Fall At No. 2 York

YORK, Pa. – The Frostburg men's lacrosse team had its season come to a close on Tuesday in the semifinals of the CAC Tournament with a 16-8 loss at No. 2 ranked York (Pa.).
 
The Bobcats (10-9) scored the game's first two goals for a quick 2-0 cushion less than five minutes into the game. Senior Adam Gross scored an unassisted goal 32 seconds into play and first-year Jason Clinton scored off a pass from sophomore Jimmy Lucas for the second goal at 10:46.
 
The host Spartans (17-1) scored the next seven goals for a 7-2 lead midway through the second quarter.
 
Bobcat senior Nate Collins ended the run with an unassisted score at 5:26, but York closed the half with the final three goals for a 10-3 edge at intermission. The Spartans continued their surge in the third quarter as they opened with three-consecutive goals for a 13-3 lead.
 
Senior Ryan Baukhages factored in the next two goals for Frostburg, assisting a Collins goal at 2:33 and a senior Keegan Colegrove goal with 1:24 left as FSU trailed 13-5 after three quarters.
 
The two schools each found the net three times in the final frame. Colegrove opened with the first goal of the fourth at 12:27 as the score read 13-6.
 
Collins later found sophomore Michael Sipes for a goal at 10:22 and senior Daniel Paladino rounded out the evening with an unassisted tally at 9:08.
 
The Spartans outshot the Bobcats 40-32 and the hosts won 16-of-26 faceoffs.
 
Collins led the charge with two goals and one assist, while Colegrove scored twice. Baukhages handed out two assists. First-year Matt Pagliaro won 10-of-20 faceoffs, while sophomore Jack Marks finished with 11 saves.
 
With the win, York will now host second-seeded and No. 7 ranked Salisbury on Saturday in the tournament championship game. YCP was led in scoring by Thomas Pfeiffer with two goals and four assists.
