#21 Baseball Swept at Penn State Harrisburg Sunday

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – The No. 21 Frostburg State baseball team was swept by Penn State Harrisburg, dropping game one 15-8 and game two 9-6, Sunday afternoon in Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) play.
 
Frostburg (15-8, 3-5 CAC) caps its weekend with a 2-2 mark following a sweep of Wesley on April 6. Penn State Harrisburg (20-6, 6-2 CAC) notched its fourth-straight win with the doubleheader sweep.
 
GAME ONE
Frostburg dropped game one after the host Lions scored the game's final eight runs over the final three innings of action.
 
The Bobcats led 3-0 after the first inning and 5-0 after the top of the third. Frostburg later led 8-7 after the fifth inning.
 
Penn State Harrisburg rebounded with two runs in the sixth and three in both the seventh and eighth innings.
 
Eight different Frostburg players had a hit in game one and five different players drove in a run.
 
Senior Logan Corrigan singled home junior Jason Paredes for the game's first run and senior Patrick Bosley singled home both seniors Matt Bougourd and Kyle Burger for a 3-0 cushion after one.
 
In the third, senior Mike Takovich plated Corrigan on a fielder's choice and first-year Josh Clegg singled home Bosley for a 5-0 lead.
 
The Lions narrowed the deficit to 5-4 in the bottom of the third, but Frostburg pushed its lead to 7-4 after adding two in the top of the fourth when Corrigan doubled home Bougourd and Takovich singled home Corrigan.
 
PSH tied the game at 7-7 in the home half of the fourth on a three-run home run from Chase Smith.
 
Frostburg recaptured the lead in the top of the fifth when Burger singled home first-year Bret Fogle, but the Lions finished off the game with the final eight runs.
 
Junior Marco Cardone got the start and surrendered seven runs, six earned, in 3.1 innings of work. Junior Chase Delost endured the loss after allowing two earned runs in 2.0 innings of work.
 
Corrigan finished 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, while Bosley was 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored.
 
GAME TWO
Frostburg collected eight hits in a 9-6 game two loss to Penn State Harrisburg.
 
Trailing 1-0, the Bobcats scored single runs in the third and fourth innings but were unable to keep the hosts off the board in the bottom half of the frame.
 
Fogle notched the first run of the game for Frostburg with a single in the top of the third that plated senior Evan Colon and tied the game at 1-1.
 
Corrigan singled in the top of the fourth and scored Bougourd to knot the game at 2-2. PSH countered back with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth to regain the lead at 4-2.
 
Frostburg got back on the board in the seventh inning with a solo home run by Takovich, his first of the season, to bring Frostburg to within 4-3. Once again Harrisburg responded with runs in the bottom of the frame, pushing across three more for a 7-3 edge.
 
Bougourd mashed a two-run home run in the top of the eighth, his third of the year, as Frostburg trailed just 7-5. Bougourd is now tied with Corrigan and Colon for the team lead in home runs.
 
Harrisburg responded in the bottom of the eighth with two runs for a 9-5 lead. Sophomore Devin Griffith capped the scoring with a double that plated junior Brady Adam for the 9-6 final.
 
Corrigan allowed five hits and four earned runs with two strikeouts in 3.2 innings on the mound. Senior Lane Ward finished the game in relief, tossing 4.1 innings and allowing five runs (two earned) on four hits with just three walks and a season-high eight strikeouts.
