Bobcats Cruise To Third-Straight Win

DOVER, Del. – The Frostburg men's lacrosse team cruised to its third-straight win with a dominating 11-2 win over Wesley in CAC action, Saturday.
 
The Bobcats (7-6, 2-2) scored a goal in all four quarters and nearly pitched a shutout by surrendering just two goals in the third quarter.
 
During its current three-game winning streak, Frostburg is outscoring its opponents by eight goals per contest and is holding opponents to less than five goals per game.
 
FSU jumped out to a 6-0 halftime cushion and scored the first two goals of the third quarter for an 8-0 advantage.
 
Wesley's two goals came with 7:14 and 0:47 in the third, but the Bobcats scored two more times in the third and once in the fourth.
 
The Bobcats held a decisive 31-17 edge in shots and caused 14 of the Wolverines (2-9, 0-4) 24 turnovers. Frostburg also won 12-of-17 faceoffs and were perfect on clears (19-of-19).
 
First-year Matt Pagliaro was a perfect 5-of-5 on faceoffs, while sophomore Jack Marks picked up the win in goal, needing just five saves.
 
Sophomore Jimmy Lucas and first-year Jason Clinton scored within 20 seconds of one another early in the opening quarter as the Bobcats jumped out to a 2-0 lead.
 
Senior Nate Collins scored the final goal of the first quarter (2:29) and the first of the second quarter (7:16) for a 4-0 advantage.
 
Senior Adam Gross scored at 5:19 and Lucas connected on his second at 4:35 for a 6-0 intermission lead.
 
Collins and fellow senior Keegan Colegrove scored the first two of the third quarter at 13:46 and 9:55, respectively, and the rout was on for the Bobcats.
 
Junior Drew Mash (7:056) and Gross (0:05) also added goals in the third, while first-year Dylan Scheeler scored the only goal in the fourth (9:13).
 
Collins finished with three goals, while Gross and Lucas each scored twice and handed out one assist. Clinton scored once and handed out two assists.
 
Frostburg State returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Southern Virginia at 4:00 pm.
