FROSTBURG, Md. – The Capital Athletic Conference Men's Lacrosse Tournament is all set and Frostburg has earned the No. 4 seed in the tournament that starts this weekend.
The Bobcats (9-8) will host fifth-seeded Southern Virginia (10-7) in the first round at Bobcat Stadium on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
Frostburg and SVU finished tied in the regular-season standings with 4-4 league records, however, the Bobcats held the tiebreaker after defeating the Knights 11-9 during the regular season.
The win over Southern Virginia was part of a five-game winning streak for Frostburg that included league wins over Marymount, Wesley, Southern Virginia and St. Mary's. The Bobcats also added a win over Elizabethtown during the streak.
Southern Virginia moved into the fifth seed in the tournament after defeating Mary Washington yesterday, 16-12. The Knights enter the tournament with three wins in six games during the month of April.
The winner of the Frostburg/SVU matchup will advance to the semifinals and will travel to second-seeded and No. 7 ranked Salisbury on Tuesday May 1.
The other first round contest features No. 6 seed Mary Washington at No. 3 seed Christopher Newport on Saturday at 2:00 pm. The winner will advance to the semifinals and travel to No. 2 ranked and top seeded York.
The tournament championship game is slated for Saturday, May 5 and the winner will earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
