SALISBURY, Md. – Senior Daniel Paladino and sophomore Paul Ruppert each scored a goal as the Frostburg men's lacrosse team closed out the regular season with 17-2 loss at in-state rival and No. 7 ranked Salisbury, Saturday.
Ruppert scored the game's first goal with 7:02 showing on the first quarter clock for a 1-0 lead for the Bobcats (9-8, 4-4 CAC).
Salisbury rebounded by scoring the game's next 16 goals until Frostburg's Paladino ended the Sea Gull run with an unassisted tally with 7:26 left in the fourth quarter that cut the deficit to 16-2.
Griffin Moroney scored six goals during the run for the nationally-ranked Gulls (13-3, 6-1).
Bobcat sophomore keeper Jack Marks notched 12 saves in the loss, including six in the third quarter. It's his sixth game this spring with 10 or more saves.
Marks, senior Adam Gross, along with juniors Nick Mattis and Drew Mash tied for the team lead with three ground balls each. Mash also finishes 5-of-7 on faceoffs.
The loss keeps Frostburg in fourth place in the CAC standings, but the Bobcats are one of just three CAC teams to have wrapped up the regular season.
The Bobcats will now await the final league games that are scheduled for this week before finding out their opponent and location for the CAC Tournament first round.
