Women’s Lacrosse Falls to No. 7 York (Pa.)

YORK, Pa. –The Frostburg State women's lacrosse team endured a 22-4 loss to No. 7 York (Pa.) in a Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) matchup Wednesday night. 
 
With the loss, Frostburg drops to 5-9-1 overall and 2-5 in the CAC, while nationally ranked York improves to 10-3 overall and 5-1 in league play. 
 
The Bobcats were outshot by York 34-12 in the matchup, as Frostburg only generated five shots in the second half. Frostburg was 6-8 on clear attempts, while York was 13-15. 
 
The Bobcats notched 12 draw controls, whereas the Spartans totaled 15. 
 
FSU was led by junior Morgan Cavey as she netted two goals on six shot attempts with one ground ball and a caused turnover, while first-year Summer Cavey scored one goal on two shots with two ground balls and two caused turnovers. 
 
The Spartans scored 15-straight goals to open the contest, for a commanding lead with 4:14 left in the first half. 
 
Morgan Cavey opened the scoring for the Bobcats with 30 seconds left in the first half as she found the cage with the Bobcats trailing 15-1 at intermission. 
 
Frostburg started the second half strong, as sophomore Molly Biggers scored her lone goal of the game just 28 seconds into the half cutting York's lead to 15-2. This marks Biggers 26th goal of the season.
 
At 19:07 Morgan Cavey scored her second goal of the evening and her team-leading 53rd of the season while York led 17-3. 
 
York rattled off seven-straight goals before Summer Cavey tallied Frostburg's last goal of the contest with 6:53 remaining as the Bobcats trailed 20-4. 
 
Junior Abigail McClure played between the pipes for the entire 60 minutes recording seven saves. 
 
The Bobcats return to action Saturday as they host No. 1 Salisbury for Senior Day set for 6:00 p.m.
