ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Frostburg State women's lacrosse team fell behind by 13 goals and never recovered in a 19-5 defeat at St. Mary's, Saturday.
The Seahawks (7-7, 3-3) scored all 12 goals in the first half and the first goal of the second half for a 13-0 cushion.
Frostburg junior Morgan Cavey ended the run with an unassisted goal with 26:24 showing on the second half clock.
Morgan Cavey scored again at 18:56 off a pass from senior Courtney Ridenour and first-year Summer Cavey scored an unassisted goal just over a minute later as Frostburg cut its deficit to 14-3.
With 10:17 left in the second, Summer connected with Morgan for a goal and at 9:02, Morgan handed out an assist on a goal by sophomore Molly Biggers for a score of 17-5.
The host Seahawks closed the afternoon with the final two goals for the 19-5 final.
Morgan Cavey has scored in every game for the Bobcats this spring and she powered the team again on Saturday with three goals and an assist. Summer Cavey finished with one goal, one assist and five draw controls.
Junior Abigail McClure suffered the loss in net after allowing the first nine goals. She finished with a pair of saves and two ground balls.
Gabby Beese led the Bobcats with two goals and four assists, while Kate Bartholomew came off the bench to notch four goals.
The Bobcats return to action on Wednesday when they visit seventh-ranked York (Pa.) at 6:00 pm.
